Nitric BioTherapeutics Hires David Pfeiffer as Chief Operating Officer

Company Prepares for Commercialization

Bristol, PA, Nov 11, 2008 – Nitric BioTherapeutics (Nitric Bio) today announced the hiring of David Pfeiffer as Chief Operating Officer.  A graduate of Rutgers University with an MBA from Northwestern University, Mr. Pfeiffer has had significant involvement with sales and marketing, product commercialization, business development and technology assessment.  He has experience in a number of different therapeutic areas, including anti-infectives, cardiovascular, dental and dermatology.  As COO, he will be based at Nitric Bio headquarters in Bristol, PA.

 “As Nitric Bio continues to progress with clinical trials in a number of different therapeutic areas, it is critical that we develop and implement commercialization and marketing plans for our various products,” said Frank J. McCaney, CEO of Nitric Bio.   “Mr. Pfeiffer has a track record of developing and commercializing new technologies, and his addition will allow us to advance products based on our proprietary nitric oxide platform.”

 Mr. Pfeiffer brings over 20 years of pharmaceutical experience to Nitric Bio.  For the past eleven years, he worked at CollaGenex Pharmaceuticals, with his most recent position being Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  He helped execute the successful sale of CollaGenex to Galderma Laboratories Inc. in April, 2008 for $420M.  Previously he worked in various sales and marketing positions at SmithKline Beecham, Zeneca, and Lederle Laboratories.

Nitric Bio, a venture backed biopharmaceutical and medical device company, is developing patent protected treatments for skin and soft tissue infections as well as for the treatment of chronic wounds using the topical application of nitric oxide gas (gNO).  Nitric oxide has significant broad spectrum antimicrobial effects, including potent effects against drug-resistant bacterial strains, as well as effects on inflammation, healing, collagen production and blood flow.  Nitric Bio is pursuing a number of indications for antimicrobial and antifungal use as well as for enhancing the healing of chronic wounds.
